ARAMIS - THE START


Our founder Diving Officer and founder Chairman, the " Two Tones ", started the club in April 1994. Tony Butcher suggested the formation of a dive club in Goole after Tony Dean offered to sponsor 4 sets of equipment on the provision that he learned to dive before his holidays in June. That was it. A number of prospective members came along to the first meeting at the Leisure Centre pub along with a number of RMS employees wanting to learn to dive. Tony B completed all the paperwork and thought of the name, a derivative of RMS, and decided on which equipment the club needed to start. The " Two Tones made sure the equipment was at the pool-side every Thursday night in good order. The club is still going strong today and still meet at the pool-side every Thursday night.


NOTE: Tony Dean did learn to dive before his holiday to Corfu in the June.
